The CloudHealth RI Optimizer simplifies the process of purchasing reserved instances. By choosing a time window in which to analyze usage, setting a date for a purchase, and choosing a prepay amount, CloudHealth can recommend the absolute optimum purchase for your environment. The recommendation uses a computer science algorithm called the “greedy knapsack” that compares all possible combinations to achieve an optimum outcome. Our recommendations takes into account variables such as historical usage, reservation types, tiered discounts, enterprise pricing, expiring reservations, and more. Reserved instances get applied on an hourly basis by randomly evaluating the available reservations and running instance usage. View Usage By Instance

The Instance Hour Report allows you to view your usage of instances over a billing period. This report provides you the costs incurred by each instance, the total number of hours run, and how many hours this instance was run under a reservation. The data is available for a year, providing you a complete historical record of all instances, their use and their exact costs. You can analyze and filter this data by business perspective.
