Softcat Partners with CloudHealth to Offer Cloud Intelligence Service
Leading IT infrastructure provider to leverage CloudHealth for service that delivers insight into public cloud spend, usage and efficiency
LONDON – December 10, 2018 – CloudHealth, the trusted cloud management provider which is now part of VMware, and leading IT infrastructure provider Softcat today announced a new partnership. Softcat’s Cloud Intelligence Service, powered by CloudHealth, will bring enhanced visibility into public cloud environments, offering greater insight into spend, usage, and identifying efficiencies across all cloud platforms.
Today, many organisations are adopting public cloud to be more agile, more flexible, and to drive down costs. However, some organisations are finding that their lack of experience operating in a public cloud environment leads to a lack of control over the services consumed, resulting in costs that are far higher than predicted, and they are unable to determine where they can make changes within their environment to reduce these rising costs. In some cases, this has even led to businesses moving their IT infrastructure back on premise.
Together, CloudHealth and Softcat are addressing this challenge by generating automated reports on all of an organisation’s public cloud usage, in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), as part of the service they offer. The service reports provide an overview of the cost and performance of individual cloud resources to highlight inefficiencies and suggestions on how to address them, as well as flagging areas of overspend, and highlighting gaps in provisioning. In addition, the service enables an organisation to control its cloud environment by highlighting any deviations from its desired governance position, for example highlighting when assets are deployed that fail security best practices.
The knowledge within Softcat’s dedicated, UK-based Cloud Intelligence Service team is used to compliment the power of the CloudHealth platform by offering personalised support to customers. The team draws on over a decade of experience and skill in IT asset intelligence, such as software asset management and security intelligence, to ensure that customers benefit from effective analysis and recommendations.
Combining the CloudHealth platform with Softcat’s unparalleled knowledge sees customers reduce their cloud spend by 20-30% on average by improving their visibility, and better aligning cost to the value it generates for them.
“We make it our business to provide our customers with solutions to their IT challenges; getting to grips with the public cloud and its associated nuances is one of those. We partnered with CloudHealth, the leader in multi-cloud management, to complement our pedigree in IT asset intelligence to deliver a service solution that directly addresses the challenge,” said Colin Brown, Managing Director at Softcat. “From the very beginning, we were impressed with the CloudHealth team’s commitment and the performance of their technology. This partnership will accelerate our business and have a huge positive impact on the lives of our customers.”
“Softcat is a leading IT infrastructure solution provider in the UK and Ireland, and we are proud to partner with them to provide an offering that gives organisations tighter control over their cloud, while still realising its many benefits,” said Bob Kilbride, Senior Director of Global Channels at CloudHealth. “We truly value the opportunity to work with such a deeply respected industry leader to ensure that today’s businesses are using the cloud to enable greater levels of innovation and speed.”
