CloudHealth Tech Announces Enterprise Chef Integration

Boston, MA – December 4, 2013 – CloudHealth™ Technologies, the pioneer in IT service management for the cloud, announced today Opscode® Enterprise Chef™ integration with the CloudHealth platform for both premise-based and hosted Chef environments. The cloud IT service management organization said its offering is focused on integration and aggregation of data sources required to support business level cloud management that drive efficiencies within customers' cloud ecosystem. CloudHealth Technologies has joined with IT infrastructure automation provider Opscode to integrate application and configuration information from Chef with the AWS cloud. Customers are now able to have application context that enables them to make business decisions around performance, availability, security and costs.

“The AWS cloud is extremely powerful, flexible, and cost effective,” said Kevin Karwaski, Manager Cloud Operations at Fiksu®. “It gives you the tools to scale your environment easily, but no real ability to evaluate the environment at a business level. We needed to see servers by their intended function or role and to correlate performance data for overall effectiveness within groups trended over time. The combination of the CloudHealth platform and Chef delivers information and context for instance workloads that includes CPU and memory utilization that enables customers to accurately budget, predict costs and determine where to make additional Reserved Instance purchase investments.”

“As customers grow their AWS cloud environments, they become much more complex, creating a need to validate they have the correct instance in place by defined workloads,” said Ken Cheney, VP of Business Development for Opscode. “The combination of the CloudHealth platform with Enterprise Chef enables customers to correlate instance usage and performance by applications and workloads to best manage their AWS clouds."
